Question:What is a turbine and how does a turbine work?
A turbine is any device that can be turned by either a flowing liquid or a moving gas.
For example air or steam or water.
Turbines all have blades that are caused to rotate when a fluid passes across them. It is basically the opposite action to that of a propellor from an aeroplane or a boat.
Turbines convert the Kinetic Energy of the fluid, to Rotational Kinetic Energy which can be used to turn something - usually a generator.
