Question:What form does the infrared signal from a remote control take?

Simply as a sequence of flashes that represent the 1's and 0's of a digital signal.

Remember: The advantage of digital is that it does not matter that the signal has become weaker by spreading out from the transmitter. We only care that it is clear that the signal is either 'on' or 'off'. If an analogue signal was used, the fact that the size of the signal represents the information being sent would mean the signal would be changed by any losses during transmission and incorrect information would be received.
